These are Victorian intaglio cuff buttons or can be worn as top lapel buttons. The backs of these cuff links are different than customary styles. They have a V shaped locking mechanism that's in 2 parts and fold away from each other to form the lever back and hold the cuffs or stay through a buttonhole. These were made from the 1880s through the 1890s.
